Wildfire IPA Release

Wildfire Relief

In recent years, we’ve seen more and more personal impacts of wildfires on the West coast, and this year was no exception with the devastation in the eastern part of Washington state and along the west coast, and of course, in Maui. Wildfire impacts are devastating and there are many ways to help those affected. Longstanding and well-known organizations like the American Red Cross routinely provide wildfire relief through financial assistance, supplies and on-the-ground response. More recently, organizations like GoFundMe have initiated ways to support as well.

More About Wildfires in Washington

While dry conditions make wildfires more easily started and spread, a critical contributor is the “fuel”: fast burning brush and grasses during rainy springs, and the buildup of pine needles and smaller, dead branches. Historically in nature, wildfires have been an important part of the cycle of life - but development of the land and population have changed the landscape and landowners need to take measures relative to their unique property to prevent catastrophe.

For more information on Wildfire Preparedness, there are resources online from the Washington Department of Natural Resources and Washington State University.

The Beer

Each year in October, as the wildfire season winds down and the rains start to make a reappearance, we release our seasonal Wildfire IPA. This West Coast IPA is brewed with malted wheat, and Mosaic and Citra hops, and has intense tropical and citrus notes.
